According to Houston police, a suspect has been detained and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of Migos musician Takeoff. During his initial court appearance, a $2 million bond was ordered for his custody.

During a press conference, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner announced that Patrick Xavier Clark, 33, had been detained and was "charged with the murder of Takeoff."
Kirshnik Khari Ball, also known as Takeoff, was shot and died in downtown Houston at roughly 2:30 a.m. on November 1, according to authorities. He was 28.

At a late-night court appearance on Friday, the judge decided Clark posed a flight risk and set his bond at $2 million. The judge said that if he is successful in posting bond, he would be placed under 24 hour house arrest.

Prosecutors contended that because Clark had bought tickets to Mexico two days before to his arrest and requested for an expedited passport, he posed a significant flight risk and should only be released on a bond of $2 million.

The defense said that Clark, who is a college student right now, posed no harm to the neighborhood and that this was his first arrest for a crime.

The shooting that killed Takeoff outside of the 810 Billiards & Bowling after a private function prompted the arrest. The incident also left a 23 year old man and a 24 year old woman with non-life-threatening wounds, according to the police.

At the time, the police reported that several unidentified individuals fired pistols at each other after a dispute broke out between some of the partygoers.
Houston Police Sgt. Michael Burrow described the event as including a "lucrative dice game" and an argument outside the venue.

"I can assure you that Takeoff was not a part of the dice game, he was not a part of the argument that occurred outside, and he was not armed," Burrow added. He was a victimized bystander.
Through shooting reconstruction and ballistics data, investigators were able to confirm that Clark was the alleged shooter of Takeoff, according to Burrow. According to him, police have also acquired cellphone and security footage that "surfaced over time."

On camera, with a revolver in one hand and a wine bottle in the other, Clark was seen firing in the direction of Takeoff, according to the prosecution at Friday's hearing. He allegedly left the bottle there after that and drove away in a vehicle. According to the prosecution, Clark's fingerprints on the wine bottle and the car's license plate information allowed investigators to positively identify him.

In the following days and weeks, police have urged members of the public to come forward with clues.
There were about 30 people there when the incident took place, and authorities are still trying to speak with them, according to Burrow.

The majority of those individuals, according to Burrow, "left the scene without leaving a statement." "It's crucial that those folks speak out."
Additionally, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner urged potential witnesses to come forward.
Turner stated at the news conference that "everyone else has an obligation to help uncover who did it." Everyone must accept responsibility.

A guy was recently charged with two counts of felon in possession of a firearm for allegedly holding a gun at the moment Takeoff was tragically shot, according to police. The charges were brought during the investigation into the killing. The 22 year old defendant is not thought to have fired a weapon during Takeoff's shooting, prosecutors said during a hearing on Wednesday, according to The Associated Press.

Takeoff was a member of the Grammy nominated hip hop group Migos. The group was founded in 2008 in a suburb of Atlanta, and in 2013 their song "Versace" propelled them to popularity. Along with his cousin Offset, the group also included his uncle Quavo, who was present when the shooting occurred but was unharmed.

Thousands of fans attended a memorial for the slain rapper at Atlanta's State Farm Arena last month.
